Important milestone achieved – first agreement signed today towards the development of the new ‘Nei Hollerich’ district

On 13 December 2024, a decisive step was taken in the development of the Nei Hollerich district. Ms Yuriko Backes, Minister for Mobility and Public Works (MMTP), Ms Lydie Polfer, Mayor of the City of Luxembourg, and representatives of the GIE Nei Hollerich, the Fonds de compensation, Luxtram and the Administration des Ponts et Chaussées, signed a framework agreement aimed at ensuring optimum coordination with a view to finalizing the execution project and future works.

The GIE Nei Hollerich, headed by its members Paul Wurth Real Estate and Landimmo Real Estate, is working to develop a neighbourhood for 4,500 residents and 5,000 jobs, together with the Fonds de compensation, which is responsible for redeveloping the site of the former Social Security headquarters. The final validation of the planning is now in a decisive phase before construction work can begin. Demolition work has already begun, paving the way for the first buildings and infrastructure to be constructed over the next few years.

This ambitious project bears witness to the effectiveness of solid inter-institutional collaboration, in which each player contributes to shaping a sustainable and modern living environment, designed to meet the needs of future generations. The ‘Nei Hollerich’ district promises to be a model of urban development, combining innovation, sustainability and quality of life, ready to meet the challenges of housing and active mobility.
